Department of First Year Engineering

The Department of First year Engg offers basic engineering knowhow which an Engineer ought to know irrespective of the specialization branch he or she is working in . Thus here the students entering in the college are made to understand different branches of engineering such as Civil , Electrical and Electronics , Mechanical Engineering . The core theme is to make the student understand the difference between Science and Engineering . The course include common core of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and their engineering applications . Students are exposed to language of engineers i.e. of Engineering Drawing and Graphics . Today’s age is of CAE ( Computer Aided engineering ) and hence the lab exercises include using computer softwares like AUTO CAD . Mechanics covering basic equilibrium laws in statics and dynamics is taught in a very practical way wherein every formula is understood by a practical application . Students are taught basics of Computer Programming and Keystone labs are well equipped with Computing facility and best of the people to ignite the young minds for understanding the logic of algorithms . Keystone School of Engg is equipped with latest models of Boilers , IC engines and workshop facilities for demonstrating the applications of carpentry , black smithy , welding and fitting and turning operations .

Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers courses related to mainly the following three streams . Machine Design , Thermal Design and Manufacturing . In this curriculum the student learns the basic core subjects like Materials science, Engg Metallurgy , Strength of Materials , Mechanisms , Design of various machine elements , Fluid Mechanics ,Thermodynamics , Heat Transfer , Measurements , Jigs and Fixtures and others . CAE is the third dimension of Engg assisiting the other two dimensions of theory and experiement . Keystone has a major focus on this area and has also conducted a Faculty Development Programme recently to take a note of recent developments in the application of such techniques which can be thought as expanding horizons of the Mechanical Engineering . CAD / CAM is another area where the department has taken special efforts to make its students compatible with industry needs. Keystone School of Engineering has new laboratory equipments catering to the need of these subjects and they are also taught basic communication skills . It is emphasized that today’s engineer is a global engineer and department activities and development is upgraded on a continuous basis .

Department of Computer Engineering

The main aim of Department of Computer Engineering is to impart intellectual and architectural basis for computing. The coursework is designed to understand the potential of computation, algorithms, systems, software, architecture and networks. It also includes the subjects for Software Engineering Practices. The second objective is to provide students with the skills necessary to be effective contributors in a quality-oriented, customer-focused environment. Courses throughout the program emphasize on open-ended, design-oriented approach to solve engineering problems. Teamwork, communication skills, an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving and a research attitude are some of the skills that the students develop through various technical and co-curricular activities. The department has continuously upgraded the infrastructure according to changing needs of technological environment.
